Niagara Falls Double Rainbow

During the ridiculously cold weather over the last few weeks, Niagara falls has been covered a HUGE amount of ice. While the falls never completely freeze, the spray and famous mist generates a lot extra of ice and snow. While it is misleadingly titled (forgive them, they are British), the Daily Mail has a post with some very cool pictures of the ice: link.

The above shot was taken during the summer of 2011 at Niagara Falls, from the Canadian side. It pains me to say it, but Canada, your side is definitely nicer. The falls are quite impressive, and they are worth a stop by if you are in the Western NY or Toronto area. This panoramic is made of 6 individual HDRs that were then stitched together using Kolor Autopano and Photoshop. I was going to do a 12 shot one (merging the same 6, but using a top and bottom HDR with different settings in each of the 6) to clear up the fog… but maybe another time. How bad could this picture really be, it’s got a double rainbow!

This was shot on the old Nikon D90. After stitching and cropping, the full size comes out to roughly 9000 x 2700. For a downloadable version- check out our Facebook gallery!
